Summer at the Library is going strong! Participate, connect, and discover with your library this July.

August 2023

We're heading back to school! Beat the back-to-school blues with resources and books from our collection and join us for the Homeschool Resource Fair at Millhopper Branch. Children can gain confidence in their reading during Read with a Dog. Adults can practice their English and Spanish skills with Conversation Club. Fandomonium has returned! Participate in a cosplay contest and trivia challenge as you make your way around this all-ages fan convention.

Find Homeschool Resources

Join us for an afternoon filled with information, fun activities, and community connections at our Homeschool Resource Fair on Saturday, August 5, at 2 p.m. at the Millhopper Branch of the Alachua County Library District.

Regardless of your homeschooling experience, connect with local organizations that provide academic support, volunteer posts, extra-curricular activities, field trip destinations, and more!

If you are considering homeschooling your child, the library is a great homeschooling resource. Whether this is your first time or you have been homeschooling for years, the library has something for everyone.

You can start homeschooling your child at any time during the school year, from kindergarten to twelfth grade.

Fans Assemble!

Fandomonium is back! Join us at the Headquarters Library for the return of this free, all-ages fan convention.

Come dressed as your favorite character and enter our cosplay contest. The contest will be divided up by age group: Kids (ages 1-11), Teens (ages 12-17), and Adults (ages 18+). There will also be a Masterclass group in which participants must have created at least 50% of their costumes themselves.

Rally your best and brightest to compete as a team during our fandom trivia challenge and peruse goods from local vendors. We’ll have special guest speakers, panels, games, and more!
